Decorating your child’s bedroom doesn’t have to be an all-consuming task. Once you’ve planned on a theme for their nursery, playroom, or bedroom, and found the perfect nursery wall decals, you can prep the rooms in some fun, easy, and cost-effective ways. We found these fun (and relatively easy) ideas online that will coordinate with your wall decals for girls or wall decals for boys and can’t wait to share them with you.

  1. Glitter Wall

    You will need: Glitter, Paint

Are you looking to add some extra sparkle to your new adorable new princess wall decals? This simple project will give your daughter’s nursery or bedroom that extra pizzazz to make the room pop!

Choose a paint that goes with the room’s décor. As you paint the wall, add splashes of glitter on the wet paint and let it dry. Make sure to lay out plastic tarps around the baseboards of the room to catch the glitter and paint. Start by testing a small area and continue from there. Make sure to sprinkle the glitter evenly.

  2. Decorative Doorknobs

You will need: Eco-friendly spray paint, unique doorknobs

Jazz up any room in two simple steps. Spruce up old, worn down doorknobs with eco-friendly spray paint in a color that matches your room’s décor. Make sure to unscrew the knob from the door before you start spraying! You can also add unique touches to dressers, desks, and other pieces of furniture with old-fashioned doorknobs you can pick up at thrift stores or garage sales.

You’ll instantly get that whimsical feel that will round out your décor. Another knob-worthy idea: Place the old doorknobs wherever you want on the wall and use them as coat and necklace hangers.

  3. Homemade Mobile

You will need: Family Photos or Cute Postcards, Embroidery Hoop, String, and Clips

Your little baby will love falling asleep to familiar faces with your homemade mobile. Putting together this charming decoration is easy. All you need is fun family photos or cute theme-centered postcards, an embroidery hoop, some string and clips.

Take the string and cut it into the desired number of one foot pieces. Tie each piece of string equal distances apart on the embroidery hoop. The more colorful the string (or yarn), the more it stands out. Tie the clip to the bottom of the string than clip the photos to the clips. You can make some strings longer or shorter to give the mobile more depth. Hang the mobile over your crib or from the ceiling of your room.

  4. Books and Records

You will need: Record size frames, book covers, and old records

Vintage children’s records and books make great instant pieces of art for any room in your home. You can find colorful records for under a $1 at your local Goodwill or thrift shop. Garage sales also often have fun, vintage pieces. You can also get paperback editions of your favorite children’s books to frame as well. Record frames are available at your local Aaron Brothers or Urban Outfitters or online.

  5. Wooden Letters

You will need: Wooden letters, wooden frame, spray paint, nails,

A really cute way to personalize your kid’s room is to frame their full name or initials on the wall. This is a super easy project. Head down to your local Michaels or Beverly Fabrics and ask for wooden letter cutouts. Pick out an eco- and kid-friendly spray paint that matches your child’s bedroom and paint the letters and wooden frame. Arrange the letters and frame however you please on the wall.
